Overview
The Professional Association of Traditional African Medicine (PATAM) is a subsidiary of Nwamara Institute for Integrative Health & Research Development. Its mission is to promote indigenous medicine in African communities, in the United States. Its objective is to collaborate with Traditional African Practitioners to cultivate an academic and professional organization that offers the most comprehensive scope of Indigenous Medicine and Traditional African Practices. PATAM is the first of kind, hence its chief assignment is to develop, define, and implement professional standards in Indigenous Medicine. This association is tasked with educating the public on the benefits of natural therapies, the use of herbs and other supplements, to promote good health. In addition, its goal is to educate natural health practitioners on legal and political issues pertaining to natural health practices. PATAM offers professional certifications and diplomas through the Nwamara Institute for Integrative Health & Research Development. One primary focus of PATAM is to be involved in the development of ongoing research; hence the association provides clinical research opportunities for individuals interested in exploring Indigenous Medicine and Traditional African Practice.

Application and Membership Fees
- A non-refundable fee of $75 must accompany all applications. The application fee is waived for active NIIH students.
- Student membership fee is $100 (annually) and is payable after acceptance.
- Professional membership fee is $175 (annually) and is payable after acceptance.
